HORTON-in-RIBBLESDALE - 9th May 2002 "Rosie" is my "little friend", she's a Border/Patterdale terrier cross and she looks upon the Yorkshire Dales as one great big garden in which to run around and explore! Horton had an envied reputation for being a picturesque station and that is still true today, much of the marvellous horticultural work is by Dave Moss of the "Friends of the Settle and Carlisle Line". Note that London to Carlisle was 307 miles, surprisingly it is only 8 miles further than London Euston to Carlisle at 299 miles! Sadly "Rosie" passed away on 12th October 2009 - we'll never walk the dales together again - R.I.P. my lovely little friend. |
